Environmental guidelinesĬobalt is mainly emitted from sources where it is used in the production of steel and other alloys. They are expected to remain in the atmosphere from 5 to 15 days. The way they deposit in the local area will depend on the local wind and rain. Where it ends upĬobalt and its compounds are expected to act like other particles in the atmosphere. Because of its short life expectancy in the atmosphere cobalt and or cobalt compounds is expected to be confined to the local area within which it is emitted. Industrial emissions of cobalt and or cobalt compounds can produce elevated, but still low level concentrations in the atmosphere around the source. Cobalt will bioaccumulate or concentrate in the tissues of fish. Cobalt and its compounds are highly persistent in water and the environment. There is not sufficient data to determine the acute or chronic toxicity of cobalt and its compounds on plants, birds or land animals. It also has high chronic (long-term) toxicity on aquatic life. There is no guideline for cobalt and compounds in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.Ĭobalt and its salts have high acute (short-term) toxicity on aquatic life. Maximum eight hour time weighted average (TWA): 0.1 mg/m 3.Maximum eight hour time weighted average (TWA): 0.05 mg/m 3.Make sure you understand how to interpret the standards before you use them. These standards are only appropriate for use in workplaces and are not limited to any specific industry or operation. Safe Work Australia sets the workplace exposure standards for cobalt and compounds through the workplace exposure standards for airborne contaminants. Consumers can be exposed to cobalt and its compounds by exposure to air from production and processing facilities using cobalt and its compounds. Workers in the industries that use or produce cobalt and its compounds (coal mining, hard metal industries, cobalt dye painting, and ore processing and chemical manufacturing) are at risk of higher exposure. Cobalt can also be absorbed through the skin. ExposureĮveryone is exposed to low levels of cobalt in the air, water and food we eat. These small amounts are essential for good health. Small amounts occur naturally in food, water, and the air (from soil which has become dust). Entering the bodyĬobalt and cobalt products will enter the body if we breathe in contaminated air, drink contaminated water, or eat food containing cobalt. Repeated exposures can cause scarring of the lungs (pulmonary fibrosis) which may not be noticed without a chest x-ray. Cobalt can damage the heart, causing heart failure. Exposure to cobalt salts may cause skin problems, and may damage the kidneys and cause lung damage. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies cobalt as a 'possible human carcinogen'. Exposure to cobalt may cause lung effects, which include respiratory irritation, coughing, asthma, pulmonary oedema, and pneumonia. It is part of vitamin B-12, and may be used in the treatment of anaemia. Australia's cobalt and compounds emission reportĬobalt has both beneficial and harmful effects on humans. The National Pollutant Inventory ( NPI) holds data for all sources of cobalt and compounds emissions in Australia. Compounds that are soluble in water are cobalt nitrate and cobalt sulfate. Compounds that are not soluble in water are cobalt carbonate and cobalt oxide. Pure cobalt does not dissolve in water, but will dissolve (or react) with acids. Specific Gravity: 8.92 Chemical properties Melting Point: Cobalt metal: about 1495☌īoiling Point: Cobalt metal: 2870 to 3100☌ Synonyms: Cobalt compounds: Cobalt carbonate, cobalt chloride, cobalt oxide, cobalt sulfate, cobalt nitrate Physical propertiesĬobalt metal is an odourless shiny, silvery metal, when first exposed to air. Cobalt sulfate is used in electroplating, in batteries, as a drying agent in inks and varnishes, in enamels, and ceramics, and as a feed and fertilizer additive. Cobalt oxide is used in pigments for ceramics and glass, in fast drying paints and varnishes, in semiconductors, in enamel coatings on steel, and again as an animal feed additive in trace amounts. Cobalt chloride is used as a humidity and water indicator, in electroplating, in the manufacture of vitamin B-12, as a fertilizer and feed additive in trace amounts. Cobalt carbonate is used in ceramics and as an animal feed supplement in trace amounts. Cobalt is also used to make artificial body parts such as hip and knee joints. It is also used to help paint dry quickly. The largest use of cobalt metal is to make alloys, which retain strength even when very hot. Cobalt is a component of vitamin B-12, which is required for good health. Small amounts of it are found in most rocks, soil, water, plants, and animals. Cobalt is a metal that occurs naturally in many different forms.

Still, Trump’s pilot did his bit by taking off at 5.59pm BST, allowing Amroliwala the neatest possible segue into the switchover to the 6pm news on BBC1. That used to be enough to update citizens on the entirety of world events, including sport and weather now it’s how long it takes to say nothing over footage of nothing much. Tarmac,” Plett Usher had been speculating for a heroic 26 minutes. By the time footage of the cars gave way to even wobblier, constantly refocusing shots of what Amroliwala, eking out every second, referred to as “The. Instead, Amroliwala turned to on-the-ground reporter Barbara Plett Usher, who – as the normal scrolling captions were replaced with the special white-on-red “BREAKING” banner – gave the longest answers possible to the anchor’s questions, despite not knowing the answers to any of them, as they were about legal proceedings that had not yet begun. When a cameraman who had evidently been hanging out of a window suddenly leaned back in, inadvertently broadcasting a glimpse of an apartment interior to a global news audience, you could hear the distant sound of the documentary film-maker Adam Curtis right-clicking his mouse, saving this clip for use in a future film about 24-hour media’s spookiest anomalies. But there and then, all there was to show us was wobbly footage of cars with blacked-out windows speeding down a highway. He is the first former US president to be indicted! This was big. The fresh pictures were from Florida, where Donald Trump had just left the garish comfort of Mar-a-Lago and headed for the airport, on his way to face criminal charges in New York. Important to stick to the optimal research order. Starting with Base Assault, the only missions we will be playing from now on are story missions. The resource gathering phase of the run is now over. However, podcast marketing expert Gaia Passamonti has identified three types of branded podcasts that can offer a starting point for businesses. But, of course, it all depends on the needs and direction a business wants to take when it comes to communicating its messaging. The Three Types of Branded PodcastsĬontrary to popular belief, branded podcasts can take on an ad hoc formula and leave a lot of room for creativity and outside-the-box thinking. "Don't think of it as a sales channel, instead use it as a way to spend time providing value to your community"-Harry Mortonīut what if you did want to advertise your brand? According to Steve Pratt, the co-founder of Pacific Content, brand mentions aren't seen as an intrusion-as long as the mention is presented authentically and organically. The shows that strive to inform and entertain their listeners have increased their authoritative presence and overall brand recall and awareness. Instead, they achieve a degree of exposure in a more restrained way. None of them resort to overwhelming consumers with advertisements, which can often have the opposite effect. Technology Untangled is an education-focused podcast by the HPE brand. Or even the branded shows Lower Street produces, such as HPE's award-winning Technology Untangled and Stanford's Grit & Growth. Take Pacific Content's podcast Trailblazers with Walter Isaacson as an example. However, some of the most successful branded podcasts don't mention their products or services at all. You have, then, the opportunity to develop real relationships with customers, prospects, and your industry at scale."-Harry Morton, founder at Lower Street "They see incredibly high engagement rates-85% completion rates which dwarf what we see in social and video. What we're seeing is that the top branded podcasts still drive from the heart of what makes a good quality podcast: great storytelling, fascinating conversations, and valuable content people want to listen to. But, unlike other channels, they're not precisely advertising or promotional. In 2018, Fast Company referred to branded podcasts as "the ads people actually want to listen to."īBC Global News suggests branded or corporate podcasts are a highly effective way to reach consumers. So many advertisers, creators, and brands have already proven the benefits of podcasting, which means if you don't have a branded podcast, your competitors probably already do. "The past couple of years have seen the world's biggest brands invest heavily into podcasting, and podcasts occupy a unique position in the media landscape," explains Jack Preston. Still not convinced? As more brands begin to venture down this marketing rabbit hole, we're starting to see an influx of tangible data to back up our claims.įor example, according to the BBC, businesses that invest in a branded podcast can see a considerable uplift in engagement, brand awareness (89%), brand favorability (24%), and even purchase intent (14%) compared to other channels like video or blogging. With its advantages of a low barrier to entry and potentially high ROI, especially in customer and client engagement, podcasting is an easy way for companies to share their brand messages. It's an intimate environment with more than 90% of listening taking place in our headphones."-Jack Preston, director of Acast Creative "Podcasts are giving brands the unique opportunity to speak to audiences in a space like no other. Intimate and immersive by nature, they offer a rare opportunity for brands to connect with consumers without being too invasive. Podcast consumption, in general, is on the rise, and branded podcasts are no different. Either by sponsoring podcasts with a similar or target audience, or by generating their own content as a "branded podcast." Thousands of businesses have begun to weave podcasts into their outreach strategies. Podcasts are flipping the script for content marketing departments across the board. The friends turn themselves in for theft, only to learn they stole the balloon ON FREE BALLOON DAY. “You ate my only food, now I’m gonna starve” He accuses Spongebob of stealing his candy bar. Patrick immediately eats his and immediately forgets that he did it. While camping out the pair discovers two candy bars are their only food. Spongebob and Patrick steal a balloon and go on the lamb as criminals. Seeing the thoughtful gifts Spongebob got others, Patrick has a breakdown with his best line coming at the expense of the carnival’s heart mascot yelling “I defy you heart man!” before tearing the poor bastard in two. To keep the secret Spongebob brings Patrick to the carnival and eventually has to pretend his gift is a hardy handshake. The only problem? It’s running late, and Patrick is getting impatient. It’s Valentine’s Day in Bikini Bottom and Spongebob has the perfect gift for Patrick, a hot air balloon made of pure chocolate. Eventually he gets the paper done only to find out the deadline was pushed back a day, a dick move by Mrs. At one point it seems like he’s gotten the creative juices flowing, only to find that he spends several minutes writing the word “the”. Faced with writing a paper for boating school about what not to do at a stoplight Spongebob procrastinates all night long. I was once one of the greatest procrastinators of all time, but my skills were rivaled by Spongebob in this episode. The PaperĪnyone who has gone to school knows the struggle of writing a paper you have zero motivation to do. There’s also a great bit where Patrick can’t figure out where the lid on a jar is. “Is this the Krusty Krab?” “No this is PATRICK!…I am not a Krusty Krab”. So obviously that leads him to Spongebob’s place of work where he answers the phones. While trying to win an award he copies everything Spongebob does. One of Patrick’s most memorable moments comes when he gets a job at the Krusty Krab. Spongebob eventually pops the arms trying to actually lift weights on the beach. The funnies part is the commercial itself that asks how big of arms do you want “veiny? or for the ladies, hairy”. He eventually sees a commercial for “anchor arms” a product that creates the illusion of unit arms. In attempts to prove he’s tough he tries to lift weights (stuffed animals on a barbell), but finds no success. Hanging out with Sandy and her swoll delts and rock hard biceps discovers that he is a bit of a wimp. Spongebob sings one of his signature songs “Indoors” with help from penny (that penny has a beautiful voice), but eventual he is forced outside to help his friends who are being attacked by an underwater gorilla. Despite pleas from Sandy and Patrick, Spongebob is content with his new indoor life with his new friends that includes a used napkin, a penny and a chip. Faced with the reality that another accident could lead to a life in the “iron butt” (seen above) he secludes himself to his home. It starts with Spongebob breaking his butt while sandboarding with Sandy. Spongebob faces the reality that anyone can get hurt, or even die at anytime, and learns to live his life without fear. This leads to a freakout by Spongebob and he learns to just accept his Grandma’s kisses no matter how embarrassing. Patrick immediately caves and accepts all of Grandma’s love. Spongebob seeks out Patrick to help him be more mature, and the two “grow” sideburns and learn to appreciate free-form jazz. That means no more kisses, but also means no more cookies. To remedy this he tells his grandma he no longer wants to be babied. Spongebob becomes concerned when he learns that people consider him to be a baby when they see him getting kissed on the forehead by his grandmother. It’s really hard to pick the very best, but you really can’t go wrong no matter what episode is your favorite. In my opinion the first three seasons of Spongebob have some of the best cartoon moments in history. Spongebob debuted in 1999 when I was seven years old and to this day I quote the show in my everyday life. For the sake of my sanity I’ve limited this MOCK to 50 picks. In memory of “Spongebob Squarepants” creator Stephen Hillenburg this week’s MOCK will see every Spongebob episode up for grabs. |
